CBS, the home of NCIS, has announced today that the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama will be joining the NCIS cast.
The First Lady, Michelle Obama will be joining the NCIS cast in a one-off episode which will highlight Michelle Obama’s “Joining Forces” initiative launched by herself and Dr. Jill Biden in 2011. The White House website describes the initiative: “Joining Forces works hand in hand with the public and private sectors to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the tools they need to succeed throughout their lives.”
The official NCIS Twitter account announced the news with a sneak peak photo of The First Lady and Mark Harmon, who plays Agent Gibbs in the television series.

The episode will be called ‘Homefront‘ and is due to air Tuesday May 3rd in the USA on CBS. Michelle Obama will be appearing as herself in the episode. It has also been revealed that all of the extras in the episode will be wives and husbands of actual military members and that the episode has been filmed inside the White House in Washington DC where NCIS is set.
The First Lady is not inexperienced when it comes to acting, having appeared in the TV shows Parks and Recreation, iCarly, Jessie and Nashville.
NCIS has been running on CBS since September 2003 and is well known for its ability to respectfully highlight issues within the military due to the nature of the TV show. We’re proud to be fans of a show that uses its popularity for the benefit of others!
